Persistence

While out walking this weekend, I stumbled upon a bit of unexpected inspiration.  Here's the trail I was on.  It looks like it goes on forever, but it's only about 3/4 of a mile long.

Along the way, I saw lots of little cracks in the pavement and I couldn't figure out what was causing them until I came across this:

This should be impossible.  This mere seedling yields to the slightest touch, but somehow managed to plow its way through five inches of asphalt all on its own.  Amazing.

This is a lesson in persistence for all of us. If this weed can persevere in hostile conditions, so can we.  Writing / Publishing / Parenting / Life is hard ... but if we just keep pushing forward, we'll eventually break through and into the light.  PLUS, the path we forge through our struggles make it easier for others to follow.

PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF
DON'T EVER GIVE UP

They are a mighty force, aren't they? Great inspiration.
